The Samsung tri-fold name could be the Galaxy G Fold

With Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 still several months away from arriving, according to the launch pipeline, we’re getting some interesting details about the company’s first triple-screen foldable phones. In the wake of new revelations, the Samsung Tri-Fold is now hearsay to have the name ‘Galaxy G Fold’.
The detail further reveals that the company itself is quite eager to unveil the first triple-screen foldable phones on the consumer platform and showcase its features.
A Naver blog post by yeux1122 cites industry sources and display analyst Ross Young as saying that the Samsung tri-fold will be named the Galaxy G Fold. This naming makes sense, as Samsung is calling its current foldable phone the Galaxy Z Fold. However, it’s hard to say what the “G” represents, as the tri-fold phone looks more like a Z than anything else, but there you have it.
According to the information, the Galaxy G Fold is expected to sport a 9.96-inch display, making it about 30% larger than the 7.6-inch screen of the Z Fold 6. Also, it is expected to be 6.54 inches in height when folded, which is on par with a traditional phone.
Late last month, Samsung revealed its plans for 2025 foldable and Galaxy A phones in the Q4 FY2024 earnings results conference call.
Launch in early 2026?
A bunch of leaks and rumors cite that the Chinese tech maker will bring the Galaxy G Fold to the table in early 2026. Ross Young backs up this timeline in an X post, saying Samsung could release the Galaxy G Fold by the third quarter of 2025
Despite Samsung’s denial of these speculations, the speedy development clues an imminent launch of the Fold G in the coming weeks.
Don’t forget that the Huawei Mate XT has already hit the market, and Samsung has to compete with its own tri-fold device. However, Samsung is still working towards launching its first tri-fold by late 2025 or early 2026. The Korean tech giant aims to become not the “first” but the “best” tri-foldable manufacturer in the world.
Samsung has recently released a patent for a triple-folding phone. But its overall look and form factor is similar to the world’s first tri-foldable. Check here..
