Is the Samsung Galaxy S25 waterproof? Here’s what its IP68 rating means
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is undoubtedly one of the most interesting and attractive S-series from Samsung, bringing significant improvements and some surprising changes over last year’s Galaxy S series. It comes as no surprise that the Galaxy S25 series devices have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and its Armor Aluminum frame makes it more resilient even when dropped, but now the question here is, is the Samsung Galaxy S25 series waterproof?
Is the Samsung Galaxy S25 waterproof?
Like other Galaxy S series smartphones, the latest edition of the flagship series, the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra is rated IP68 using the ingress protection rating system. While no phone is truly “waterproof,” the IP68 dust and water-resistance ingress protection rating means your gadget is completely protected from dust, and it’s water-resistant in up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
For everyday use, the Galaxy S25 has an IP68 rating, which means the flagship phone can handle minor water incidents such as accidental splashes, light rain, or a quick drop in shallow water without any issues. Still, the smartphone is not designed for prolonged use underwater, so it’s best not to push its limits.
IP rating, the last two digits of which indicate the level of dust and water resistance of the device. In this scenario, the first digit of IP68, “6”, means that the Galaxy S25 phones are completely dust-proof. The second digit indicates the level of water resistance, and “8” means that the flagship phone can be submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes.
Now, we can say that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is water-resistant and not waterproof, just like any other smartphone on the market.
The Galaxy S25 series is Samsung’s latest edition based on its Galaxy S flagship lineup. Samsung recently revealed details of the June 2025 security update, along with the revised list of the software update plan for Galaxy devices. Through this list, Samsung has officially announced the discontinuation of updates for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.
Now, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite have been removed from the biannual plan with the June 2025 security patch. Samsung has confirmed that these phones have completed their update cycle and will no longer be eligible to receive updates
Users of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite can look forward to newer models such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 and Galaxy Tab S9 series, which offer enhanced features and the latest software.
The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite came with Android 10 in 2020, and the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite came with Android 11 in 2021 and has received updates for three years as promised. However, these phones will not get Android 14 or newer. After five years of software updates, Samsung has officially stopped support for these phones.
Although the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite will no longer receive software updates, the phones will still be safe to use. They will continue to receive Google Play system updates, which include important fixes to keep apps running smoothly. This helps keep the phones safe even without the latest Android features.

How to join One UI 8 Beta Program
To join One UI 8 Beta Program on your Galaxy devices, you need to follow these steps:
- Download the Samsung Members application first from the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store.
- Open the app on your eligible device and log in with your Samsung Account. If not, create one.
- Select the “Registration for One UI Beta Program” in the home banner or notices page to register.
- Complete and submit the application form.
How to download and install One UI 8 Beta
Once you complete the registration procedure, your device will deliver you a new software update.
On your device, go to “Settings > Software update > Download and install”. The beta software is installed.
Note:
- One UI Beta Program will be available only for specific devices, OS versions, and countries.
- Eligible Samsung Galaxy devices get it turn by turn and compatible devices vary by country.
- One UI 8 feature can vary depending on the Galaxy device enrolled in the beta version.
- It is highly suggested to back up your data on your computer with Smart Switch before installing the beta software, as it may result in data loss.
