On January 22, Samsung initiated new features in the Game Booster for the Galaxy S25 series with One UI 7. This software brings new optimizations for refresh rates for different gaming scenarios.

Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and larger vapor chambers globally, the Galaxy S25 series adds additional options for gamers to control the frame rate through the Game Launcher app and Game Booster with One UI 7.

As we’ve already created a dedicated article, there’s an option called Gaming Motion Smoothness with One UI 7 running devices, which lets you switch between 60Hz and 120Hz so you can choose between longer battery life and smoother animations while gaming on your phone.

It’s worth noting that this new feature works with games that don’t have their own refresh rate setting. However, it depends on the game, if a game does not support 120Hz, selecting the 120Hz option in Game Booster will have no effect.

Previously, Samsung offered the option to limit the frame rate in games to 48 Hz to save power on devices running One UI 6 and older One UI version, but on One UI 7, this is no longer possible.

In addition to this, for Galaxy S25 and devices running latest version of One UI, there is a second option in Game Booster,  “Customizations for individual games.” This second option allows players to limit the refresh rate per game, allowing you to set games to run at 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60Hz individually. To access this option follow the below instructions:

One UI 7 Game Booster: How to set extra FPS rate options for individual games

  • Launch the Game Launcher app
  • Tap the three-dot button in the upper-right corner.
  • Head to “Game Booster.”
  • Select “Customizations for individual games.”
  • Select the game whose frame rate you want to limit.
  • Pick “FPS” and drag the slider to the desired refresh rate.
