One UI 8 finally lets you use predictive back gesture on stock Samsung apps.

As you know, Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7 offered the predictive back feature only in Google applications and not in stock apps on Galaxy phones and tablets. Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 for Galaxy phones and tablets expands the predictive back feature to Samsung’s stock apps, according to a report.
On the other hand, Samsung fans are excited about the next big software update for the Galaxy device. One UI 8 beta has officially launched, with the Korean tech giant confirming the program and releasing the first beta update.
After installing and digging, Android Authority has found that on the Galaxy S25 with One UI 8 beta, Predictive Back also works in some of Samsung’s stock apps, including:
- Clock
- Calculator
- Weather
- Settings
- Voice Recorder
- Contacts
Unfortunately, Android 15 predictive back doesn’t work in some other stock apps, including Calendar and Reminders.
With One UI 8, you can see that there is now a toggle for Predictive back animation visible in the Developer Options menu. Notably, this setting can be found via the Settings search bar in One UI 7, but won’t show up when tapped, almost like it’s hidden.

Which devices currently support One UI 8 beta?
Samsung has officially confirmed the eligible devices and countries:
One UI 8 eligible devices:
- Galaxy S25
- Galaxy S25 Plus
- Galaxy S25 Ultra
One UI 8 eligible countries:
- United States (T-Mobile locked and unlocked devices)
