Samsung is currently preparing to launch the upcoming Galaxy S25 series in addition to the One UI 7 software update. Meanwhile, a report claims that Samsung working on an AI-based real-time weather wallpaper feature suggesting a new patent. This feature may comes with the next version of the One UI 7.

Samsung AI-based real-time weather wallpaper feature

A new patent listing, which was filed at the ‘United States Patent Application Publication’ was recently spotted (via 91Mobiles). The patent listing shows that the background in the wallpaper changes automatically based on real-time weather information and time of the day (dawn/morning/afternoon/evening/night).

According to the report, this AI-based technology can also detect the weather and change the background to sunny, foggy, cloudy, rainy, or snowy. Plus,  one of the patent images shows the feature will pop up an alert like ‘carry an umbrella’ if it detects rain. Apart from this, several patent images show seasonal changes. You can see them here.

Now, Samsung is focused on AI, so Samsung will rely on generative AI to manage these features, which will read the image/background, identify areas (of the background) where time/weather changes can be applied, generate a modified image with the changes to the original and apply the new background screen.

Samsung background changing wallpaper feature will work on in the background and the changes will be applied automatically whenever required, and you won’t need to stop your current work.

In addition, Samsung already offers a real-time weather wallpaper feature on the Galaxy S24 that adds 3D animated weather effects to still photos used as a lock screen. The weather effects reflect the user’s local weather, so if it’s raining outside, a rain animation will be applied to the lock screen image.

While the feature is only in the patent stage right now, given the constant rise of new AI features on smartphones, Samsung is likely to adopt it for the next versions of One UI 7 for the upcoming foldable.
