Galaxy S24 might miss out One UI 7 Now Brief, as it requires a powerful NPU
Samsung is all set to release the One UI 7 Beta 4 for the Galaxy S24 series next week, and stable could launch later this month. Meanwhile, a report reveals that the brand-new Now Brief might not come to Galaxy S24 or older devices with the One UI 7.
Samsung aims to work with local developers to improve user experience and security and deliver relevant and practical innovations through One UI 7 and the latest AI developments.
Sally, EVP and head of the framework R&D team at Samsung Mobile Experience said in a recent press release that AI features that use on-device processing, such as the personal data engine, require advanced processors and hardware, like the one found in the Galaxy S25 series with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
One UI 7 Now Brief works on Samsung personal data engine fundamentals, which require more powerful hardware, such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite with upgraded NPU. This means that Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23 Galaxy S22, and other devices may miss out on the One UI 7 Now Brief feature.
This personal data engine-based Now Brief feature requires powerful processing to provide an optimal experience. In distinction, features like Circle to Search can run on older devices, as they rely more on cloud-based services that are less demanding on device performance.
So, the Now Brief feature is exclusively available on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, or Galaxy S25 with One UI 7, which experience the convenience of a modern AI mobile experience designed to simplify everyday activities.
The Galaxy S25 series comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite globally, which is a big jump from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on the Galaxy S24.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is manufactured using cutting-edge 3nm process technology and features Qualcomm’s in-house Orion CPU cores with a unique architecture.
Samsung is preparing to introduce exciting new One UI 8.5 features with its new flagship phones. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, in particular, will be the most powerful Optical phone which is setting the stage to debut massive camera upgrades.

According to the leaker, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a 24MP default and portrait mode. It may also feature Adaptive Pixel, which reduces noise by combining multiple low-resolution photos into one high-resolution image.
Additionally, the Galaxy S26 Ultra Optical has a focus speed slider for portrait and video modes. Camera assistance mode – allows turning off HDR10+ and using regular HDR.
