Samsung has released the December 2024 security update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in Europe and India. Last week, the firmware update reached Samsung’s latest foldable phones in Korea, and over the next few days, more countries and regions will get access to this security patch.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 get December 2024 security update in Europe and India

The December 2024 security patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 is now available with One UI build versions F956BXXS2AXKC and F741BXXS2AXKC, respectively.

It is a relatively small software update, so its download size is well under 500MB, and you can install it even using a cellular connection. Hence, this update doesn’t bring any new features or performance gains to Samsung’s latest generation foldable phones.

As per the SMR, the December 2024 security patch fices over 45 security vulnerabilities found in previous firmware. It includes fixes for 2 critical and 28 high-level security flaws from Google. Moreover, Samsung also addressed fixes for 8 vulnerabilities that mainly related to the Theme Center, Galaxy Watch Bluetooth functionality, SmartSwitch, and Dex Mode.

If you have either of these two phones and live in Europe and India, you can check for the updates on your Galaxy devices by navigating to Settings.

Both phones are currently running on Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 software, but they will likely get the One UI 7 Beta update in the coming weeks to try new features and enhancements.

Next year, both foldable phones will get the Android 15-based One UI 7 update with brand new UI design, new app icons, new Galaxy AI features, and many new animations and transitions.

On the flip side, the company also gearing up to launch the One UI 7 beta 2 update for Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra in select countries.

Android 17 Universal Clipboard

Google and Samsung are yet to release Android 17 and One UI 9 Beta for Pixel and Galaxy devices. Meanwhile, Google is working on a Universal Clipboard for Android phones and PCs, with Android 17. This means Samsung’s One UI 9 could bring universal clipboard to Galaxy devices.

According to Android Authority, Android 17 includes a feature called UniversalClipboardManager. This tool appears inside Google’s continuity framework, which transfers copied content between Android devices without a third-party tool

Samsung’s current cross-device features, like Quick Share, Samsung Flow, and Phone Link, do not offer built-in clipboard syncing. Fortunately, that could change in next year’s One UI 9 update, as Google is working on a Universal Clipboard for Android phones and PCs.

If Samsung follows the One UI 8 schedule, One UI 9 is expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 in mid-2026. If Google implements Universal Clipboard in Android 17, Samsung will likely add it in One UI 9.
