January 23: India

Samsung will likely start releasing the One UI 7 update for older smartphones gradually after February 7. Meanwhile, Samsung has released the January 2025 security update for Galaxy S22 series smartphones in India. This update is already available to users in Korea and the US and the company will soon make it available for all models.

A couple of hours ago, Samsung released the same update for Gaalxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Gaalxy S24 Ultra in India with security and stability improvements. Samsung has beginning of month released the January 2025 security patch. As per the official details, the patch fixes over 50 privacy exploits in the smartphone system.

Apart from the new security fixes, the update does not bring any new features or improvements to the device. But you may notice some performance optimizations with this software. The update has been rolling out gradually and may take some time to reach all eligible units.

The January 2025 security update for the Galaxy S22 series devices in India can be identified through the One UI build versions given below.

  • Galaxy S22: S901EXXSBEYA1
  • Galaxy S22+: S906EXXSBEYA1
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra: S908EXXSBEYA1

Make sure your device has enough storage space as the software weighs about 450 megabytes. We also recommend using a stable Wi-Fi or Internet connection.

Hence, install the new firmware as soon as it reaches your Galaxy S22 device. In case you have not received the update alert yet then visit Settings >> Software Updates. Now tap on the Download and Install and let the device search for the newest versions.

This new update is based on Onei 6.1 and the company is internally testing the One UI 15 based on Android 7 build for the Galaxy S series devices. It is expected that the Galaxy S22 phones in this series will receive a stable update once the beta program for the Galaxy S24 series ends.

Notably, Samsung will likely release the One UI 7 stable update for the Galaxy S24 series after February 07, 2025. This update will introduce several new features, especially those powered by Galaxy AI.
