One UI 7 stable update for Galaxy S24 is under development

stable One UI 7 timeline

One UI 7 is running in the beta phase and might go stable later this month. A new leak states that Samsung could officially unveil its all-new self-developed operating system, the Stable One UI 7 update instead of Beta 4 in January. Probably, we may get an official statement in the Galaxy Unpacked 2025.

Is Samsung release the stable One UI 7 update instead of beta 4?

Tipster Tarun Vats recently spotted a version of the new One UI 7 for the Galaxy S24 on the One UI test build detection app – CheckFirm. The One UI 7 version has been tested on a Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus smartphone, whose firmware ends at BYA2.

The BYA2 build of the S24 is similar to the latest build of the S25, i.e. YA2, which indicates that the stable version of the update is under development. The leaker further claims that after the release of the Beta 3 update, no new beta builds have appeared on the testing platform. This also means that beta 3 may be the last update before the stable update arrives later this month.

He also said that if we get a new beta build on the test servers, this won’t happen. However, the exact release date is still unconfirmed.

The pace of the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 and the beta rollout on the Galaxy S24 indicate that Samsung could unveil the stable version of the new software this month.

The Galaxy S25 series will come with One UI 7 pre-installed. Other devices like the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23, and the latest Galaxy foldable will be the first devices to receive the official version in early February.

Now, we have to wait and see whether Samsung will release One UI 7 beta 4 or release it as a stable version.

One UI 8 predictive back

As you know, Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7 offered the predictive back feature only in Google applications and not in stock apps on Galaxy phones and tablets. Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 for Galaxy phones and tablets expands the predictive back feature to Samsung’s stock apps, according to a report.

On the other hand, Samsung fans are excited about the next big software update for the Galaxy device. One UI 8 beta has officially launched, with the Korean tech giant confirming the program and releasing the first beta update.

After installing and digging, Android Authority has found that on the Galaxy S25 with One UI 8 beta, Predictive Back also works in some of Samsung’s stock apps, including:

  • Clock
  • Calculator
  • Weather
  • Settings
  • Voice Recorder
  • Contacts

Unfortunately, Android 15 predictive back doesn’t work in some other stock apps, including Calendar and Reminders.

With One UI 8, you can see that there is now a toggle for Predictive back animation visible in the Developer Options menu. Notably, this setting can be found via the Settings search bar in One UI 7, but won’t show up when tapped, almost like it’s hidden.

Which devices currently support One UI 8 beta?

Samsung has officially confirmed the eligible devices and countries:

One UI 8 eligible devices:

  • Galaxy S25
  • Galaxy S25 Plus
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra

One UI 8 eligible countries:

  • United States (T-Mobile locked and unlocked devices)

One UI 8 Galaxy Z Fold 7

Earlier reports suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 would come with One UI 8 (Android 16). Now, just months ahead of its big Galaxy Unpacked launch event, Samsung is saying that One UI 8 will debut on Samsung’s newest foldable this summer.

According to the Samsung Newsroom, One UI 8 will debut on Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldables this summer and will gradually expand to more Galaxy devices so users can now enjoy a richer, more personalized mobile experience with the latest version of Android.

Samsung says: “Thanks to the mutual partnership between Samsung and Google, One UI 8 will debut on Samsung’s newest foldables this summer and will gradually expand to more Galaxy devices so users can now enjoy an enriched, more personalized mobile experience with the latest version of Android.”

Samsung officially released the beta version of One UI 8 on May 28, 2025 (today), marking the end of a rather long anticipatory period since Android 16’s official launch. This is when the One UI 8 beta program began for the Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung started the One UI 8 rollout for devices with a beta program. So yes, the One UI 8 beta has started with the Galaxy S25 series. All devices that are expected to get One UI 8 stable are also expected to get a beta program before that, which will help polish and finalize the update for that device. So keep an eye on the beta program for your device in anticipation of the stable update.
