One UI 7: How to switch between vertical and horizontal app drawer
Samsung’s first beta of One UI 7 is finally out, and it is only available on the Galaxy S24 series in Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US. One UI 7 update introduced several outstanding features and improvements, including the most requested vertical app drawer.
One UI 7 vertical and horizontal app drawer
The vertical app drawer is a minor yet great feature of One UI 7 that allows users to scroll vertically through their apps. This is different from horizontal scrolling and provides a more intuitive and organized way to access apps.
How the One UI 7 app drawer works
With the One UI 7 update, you can easily switch between a vertical and horizontal app drawer. When you choose the alphabetical order in the Sort menu, the app drawer uses a vertical layout. Using the Custom Order Sort option, you can switch to the horizontal layout and you can move apps around as you wish that Galaxy smartphone users are prepared to.
How to switch between vertical and horizontal app drawer
To switch between the vertical and horizontal app drawer, you need to follow the steps:
- Go to the app drawer
- Tap the Three dots button in the bottom right corner of the screen next to the search bar
- Tap Sort, and select Custom Order or Alphabetical Order to get the desired layout.
Most importantly, the search bar itself will give users the option to toggle between both. Tapping the three-dot icon to the right of the search bar will open a panel with ‘Sort’, ‘Clean up page‘, and ‘Settings’, with the option to conveniently toggle between custom and alphabetical order within the ‘Sort’ menu.
Plus, the Clean up page option helps to fix some of the app drawer pages that have lots of empty space in the horizontal layout and you can move icons around and arrange them how you want.
Moreover, the app search bar has now been moved to the bottom on both the vertical and horizontal app drawer layout, and for now, there doesn’t appear to be any way to move it top. More App drawer customization may come with the next beta updates.
