Camera Assistant to bring pro-level camera upgrade for Galaxy S26 Ultra
We’ve heard some rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera system, and according to the latest information from a newsletter, Samsung has been spotted working on new camera toggles via the Samsung Camera Assistant to adjust video softening, autofocus speed, and sensitivity for the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
A reliable newsletter, the Android Authority, spotted that Samsung has been testing new camera settings in the Camera Assistant app on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but it is working on making the camera smarter.
Samsung Camera Assistant is a module that runs through the Good Lock app and enhances the camera experience on Galaxy devices. This module allows users to customize various camera settings, such as adding a 2x zoom button, increasing the shutter speed, and adjusting other features of the primary camera.
According to the information, Samsung has been spotted working on a new camera toggle for video softening and adjusting autofocus speed and sensitivity. However, both of these features are currently not active yet in One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S25 series and could be intended for the Galaxy S26 Ultra to mark it as a high-end tool for camera enthusiasts.
Video Softening:
Video softening works similarly to the “picture softening” option, allowing users to reduce harsh details for smoother, more natural-looking photos with less sharpening. With this feature, users can toggle the softening effect to off, medium, or high to adjust its intensity.
Autofocus speed and sensitivity:
In addition to video softening, the Camera Assistant Good Lock module on One UI 8.5 also includes the Autofocus speed and sensitivity feature. Autofocus Speed controls how fast the focus moves from one subject to another, while Sensitivity decides how quickly the camera switches focus between subjects.
