Samsung planning to boost battery for future Galaxy phones

Samsung Galaxy battery

Samsung’s upcoming flagship phones are set to see some nice upgrades. With more powerful processors, better front-facing cameras, and a slightly new design, Samsung may soon be prepared to use smartphone batteries up to 5500mAh using the “stacking” battery method in future Galaxy phones.

As TheElec (via Jukanallosreve) reports, the company is reportedly thinking of a new battery manufacturing technology that would increase cell capacity by a massive 10 percent.

Samsung battery subsidiary, the Samsung SDI is currently considering producing small batteries in Malaysia using the “stacking” method. By applying the stacking process, the energy density can be increased by more than 10%.

So far Samsung’s phone batteries have been made in a traditional way, so now it’s 2025 and Samsung is still sticking to 5000mAh battery and 45W charging in Galaxy mobile phone series. On the other hand, other Chinese phone makers are aggressively using high-capacity batteries in their latest flagship phones which will get even faster in the next few years.

Meanwhile, for example, if the battery capacity of the latest Galaxy S smartphone is 5,000mAh, the proposed stacking technique will take it to around 5500mAh.

According to the leak specification sheet, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will pack a 5000mAh battery and 45W super-fast wired charging as well as Wireless charging, but we don’t have the details regarding that at the moment.

Plus, Samsung is planning to bring Qi2 wireless charging standard for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which not only offers faster, 25W charging but also has magnets that allow you to attach any compatible accessory to a gadget.

The Galaxy S25 series will launch at Galaxy Unpacked 2025 on January 22. Stay tuned for more information.
