One UI 7 testing is underway for Samsung Galaxy S22

In preparation for the One UI 7 beta update, the first One UI 7 internal test firmware for Samsung Galaxy S22 has been spotted on Samsung’s servers. After the 2023 flagship, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones, Samsung Galaxy S22 One UI 7 firmware appeared on testing servers.

A few months back, the Galaxy S22 smartphone has already shown its performance running Android 15 based on One UI 7 through Geekbech score. Now, the first internal test with the firmware version S908BXXUDFXKS surfaced on the Checkfiem platform (via Tarun Vats), showing that One UI 7 software testing is under for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone in Poland.

Poland is one of the seven countries that are included in every One UI beta program. These 7 countries include China, Germany, India, Poland, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Notable, that internal test doesn’t mean the Galaxy S22 series will receive the One UI 7 Beta firmware anytime soon and it is not yet available for public use. The Korean tech giant is going to launch the One UI 7 beta program for the Galaxy S24 series in the coming weeks.

Galaxy S22 One UI 7 Test

For the Galaxy S22 series, the One UI 7 beta update may not start until December 2024. As per the recent report, the S22 series may or may not join the beta program this year. However, the series might get a Beta update after the Galaxy S23 series next year.

Samsung will launch the stable One UI 7 update next year with the Galaxy S25 lineup. Following that, the One UI 7 stable update will be available for more Galaxy devices including the Galaxy S22 series.

For the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, One UI 7 will be the third major update for these devices. The 2022 S series phone launched with Android 12 based on One UI 4 and will be supported by up to four generations of Android OS upgrades. Since the launch, it has been updated to Android 13 and Android 14-based One UI 6.1. After Android 15, the Galaxy S22 series will also get Andoid 15 and One UI 8 updates.

Verizon recently rolled out the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6. Now, Samsung is rolling out the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones in the US. The update is available for locked models of these 5th-generation foldables on the Verizon network.

One UI 7 update arrives on Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphones in the US through One UI build versions F731USQU6EYD9 and F946USQU6EYD9 respectively. The company will soon expand this update to all network carriers in the US.

Based on Android 15, the One UI 7 update brings several new features and enhancements to deliver a next-level experience. Samsung’s One UI 7 update introduces a separate Quick Settings and Notification Panel with the new layout. Also, it adds new features, including Now Bar and Live Notifications, which significantly improve the overall experience.

Apart from new features and enhancements, the update brings the April 2025 security patch to improve system security and stability. Also, it fixes several issues and updates the app to the latest version to improve the overall experience.

As always, this is a gradual rollout so it may take a few hours or days to reach all models. To manually check for a software update, go to your phone’s Settings. At the bottom, you’ll find the Software Update section, just open it. Inside the submenu, if your Galaxy brings a new OTA, you’ll need to hit the Download and Install button.

Samsung’s April 2025 security patch addresses over 60 issues, including 4 critical, 36 high, and 5 that do not apply to Samsung devices. This patch further includes 1 high-level CVE from Samsung Semiconductor.

In addition, Samsung has fixed 21 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVEs). These SVEs improvements are mainly related to Sticker Center, Clipboard Service, Samsung Contacts, Galaxy Watch wireless download, Samsung Device Health Manager Service, and more.
