Galaxy S25 Side button performs different functions with One UI 7: Check list here

With the One UI 7, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series has a customizable side button that lets you quickly access your most used apps and features. The button is located on the right side of the phone, within easy reach of your thumb or finger.

By default, the side button can be short-pressed, long-pressed, or double-pressed to access different functions, such as turning off your phone, calling Bixby, or opening apps and letting you access Google Gemini with the side button. This post introduces how to change the side button function on your Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra with One UI 7.

By default, when you long-press the side button, you can open the AI assistant of your choice. By default, this is Gemini, but you can set it to open other compatible assistant apps like Bixby, as well as the power-off menu. The options for Long press include:

Digital assistant
Bixby
Power off the menu (alternatively, use the Quick settings panel or Bixby)

When you double press the side button, you can set the side button to do the following: By default, it is a Camera. You can do the following things:

- Open Camera, Record Video, Take Portrait, Take Selfie

- Open Voice Recorder, Start Recording

- Any app installed on the phone

How to customize the Side button

Whether any particular function performs depends on your usage. To do this, go to Settings and open it, then tap Advanced features and then tap the Side button to adjust the settings you want.

Samsung is preparing to introduce exciting new One UI 8.5 features with its new flagship phones. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, in particular, will be the most powerful Optical phone which is setting the stage to debut massive camera upgrades.

Leaker @chunvn8888 has come up with a new array of Galaxy S26 Ultra camera upgrades. The newly leaked information sheds light on camera assistance key enhancements:

According to the leaker, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a 24MP default and portrait mode. It may also feature Adaptive Pixel, which reduces noise by combining multiple low-resolution photos into one high-resolution image.

Additionally, the Galaxy S26 Ultra Optical has a focus speed slider for portrait and video modes. Camera assistance mode – allows turning off HDR10+ and using regular HDR.
