Galaxy Z Flip 7: Samsung clamshell flagship under development

Galaxy Z Flip 7 development

Samsung is reportedly working on the development of the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Last month, the company released the Galaxy S25 series flagships, which are selling well globally with Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. Now, the company has started working on its latest foldable flagship, which is expected to be released second half of the year.

After launching multiple Galaxy A, M, and F series phones in the first half, the tech giant is expected to host another big Unpacked event focusing on foldable devices.

SamMobile reports that Samsung is developing the Galaxy Z Flip 7. This report suggests that the development of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 firmware is exclusively for Europe. This suggests that firmware for other countries and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also in the works.

However, the report doesn’t clarify whether the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will come with One UI 7, One UI 7.1, or One UI 7.1.1, but if history is any sign, it should be the latter. Every new flagship should introduce at least a minor One UI upgrade.

Right from the start, with the launch of the flagship Galaxy Z series, Samsung introduced the new x.1.1 version of One UI software. For reference:

  •  Galaxy Z Flip 3: One UI 3.1.1
  •  Galaxy Z Flip 4: One UI 4.1.1
  •  Galaxy Z Flip 5: One UI 5.1.1
  •  Galaxy Z Flip 6: One UI 6.1.1

The new foldables will be released in July. Before them, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S25 Edge. This year’s Galaxy foldable series may include five models, including three new ones (FE, SE, and Tri-Fold).

In the Q4 2024 earnings call, Samsung executive highlighted future foldable plans and said that we are looking forward to diversifying our lineup later this year to expand our customer base to enhance form factor design and durability.
