You can use a custom wake word for Bixby on the Galaxy S25

Gemini comes as the default assistant in the Galaxy S25 series. However, the Galaxy S25 series lets you choose the best AI assistant between Gemini and Bixby. In this line, Samsung has quietly expanded a feature on Galaxy S25 that enables you to set a wake-up word for your Bixby voice assistant.
For your information, let us tell you that in February 2023, Samsung announced that Galaxy S23 users in Korea would be able to customize the wake-up phrase for their Bixby voice assistant, but the company did not say when this feature would roll out globally.
Recently, as Android Authority found, on the US Galaxy S25 series unit with One UI 7, Bixby allows users to use a custom wake word. A wake-up phrase is a word or group of words that activate a voice assistant like Gemini or Bixby. Most voice assistants have one or two fixed wake-up phrases you can use.
- Gemini: “Hey Google” or “Okay Google,”
- Bixby: “Bixby” or “Hi Bixby.”
Thankfully, Samsung has now made this feature available for Bixby as well, allowing people to get creative and personalize the voice assistant to a greater extent.
However, there is a chance that the device might not recognize custom wake words as accurately as Bixby or Hi, Bixby.
How to create or use a custom wake-up word in Bixby?
To access the new feature on your Samsung Galaxy S25, head to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby > Labs and turn on the toggle Create wake-up phrase.

Once you do that, go back and select Voice registration and tap Create wake-up phrase under the voice wake-up section to train your own wake-up phrase, follow the on-screen instructions, say the desired wake-up word, select Continue, say the wake-up word five more times to train the device, and then select Done.
However, you can speak almost any wake-up phrase except “Google,” “Alexa,” and “Siri.” Samsung recommends speaking a phrase between 2 to 4 syllables and avoiding connecting earphones or Bluetooth devices while recording.

Samsung ends software update support for three Galaxy devices

Samsung recently shared its revised software update plan for July 2025. Through this updated plan, Samsung has confirmed that three Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, Galaxy F52 5G, and Galaxy A22 5G are no longer eligible for software updates.
Now, Galaxy Tab S7 FE, Galaxy F52 5G, and Galaxy A22 5G have been removed from the Biannual plan in July 2025. It means that Galaxy Tab S7 FE, Galaxy F52 5G, and Galaxy A22 5G devices will no longer receive software updates as they have completed their update cycle.
The Galaxy Tab S7 FE, Galaxy F52 5G, and Galaxy A22 5G were released in 2021. Since then, these three Galaxy devices have received three major Android updates, along with regular security patches. Now, after several years of support, Samsung is officially ending updates for these Galaxy devices.
So, what does this mean for these phone and tablet users? First, don’t worry, because your tablet will still work. Even though the Korean tech giant will no longer send out new Android versions or monthly security updates, your device will still receive Google Play system updates. These updates help keep your Galaxy device secure and let you continue using important apps like banking, social media, and video streaming.
If you want the newest features and latest Android updates, you might want to upgrade to a newer Galaxy phone and tablet. You can check tablets from the Galaxy Tab A10 series, the Tab S9 series, or the Galaxy A56 5G. These new Galaxy devices offer better performance, new features, and longer support.
However, if your current devices are working well and you’re happy with them, there’s no need to upgrade right away. The Galaxy Tab S7 FE, Galaxy F52 5G, and Galaxy A22 5G can still handle basic tasks like browsing the web, watching videos, or using social media.
