Samsung is rolling out the November 2024 security update for Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5 in India, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphones in India and Europe. These devices already received the latest security update in the US and the company is working to make it available for all countries.

What’s new

This update improves system security and stability to make the device running stable and more reliable. Moreover, this update is necessary for protecting devices from emerging threats and vulnerabilities, which ensures your personal information is secure.

Plus, it boosts the overall performance of your Galaxy device by optimizing allocation and balancing performance. In addition, it brings stability enhancements and often fixes issues that might cause crashes, which leads to a more stable and reliable user experience.

According to the Samsung SMR, its new security patch fixes 52 security fixes found in Galaxy smartphones and tablets, Of these 52 patches, 38 patches came from Google. However, 1 CVE is not relevant to Galaxy devices.

In addition to Google patches, Samsung offers 13 SVE items to enhance the Galaxy experience. The fresh security patch fices lots of issues related to Multiple users, Dex mode, Galaxy Watch, System Settings, and more.

How to update

If you have received the notification of the update on your foldable smartphones then install it now to get a bug-free experience. You can also check the update by visiting the Settings app on your foldable and opening the Software Update section.

Now, click on the Download and Install tab. If an update is visible, you can follow the on-screen instructions to install the update on your Galaxy smartphone.

These foldable smartphones currently run on Android 14 based on the One UI 6.1.1 update. Plus, all 4 devices will get the major One UI 7 update next year, after the Galaxy S25 series launch.

Samsung has started rolling out the April 2025 One UI 7 update for Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra in India. 

Users of the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones are getting the April 2025 security update in India via One UI builds S931BXXU2AYD9, S936BXXU2AYD9, and S938BXXU2AYD9, respectively.

This new security update improves system security and stability to provide a better experience. It also fixes several issues that occurred in previous versions to improve performance.

April 2025 security patch fixes 4 critical, 36 high, and 5 that do not apply to Samsung devices. Moreover, it contains 1 high-level CVE from Samsung Semiconductor. The update also includes 21 SVE items to improve user experience, addressing issues in the Sticker Center, Clipboard Service, Samsung Contacts, Galaxy Watch wireless download, Samsung Device Health Manager Service, and more.

Android 16 Beta is now available for these Samsung Galaxy S25 rivals

Today, with beta 4 Google expanded Android 16 Beta to select non-Pixel flagship devices from partner brands. Samsung, as always, is skipping the Android 16 Beta Program, while the new OS is available for select devices launched by Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, vivo, and Xiaomi.

Google released Android 16 beta 4 with a second version of platform stability and announced that apps compatible with the new OS will now be available on the Play Store.

Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Vivo, and Xiaomi have opened beta registration windows for their latest flagship devices launched in the last few months. Samsung, however, is yet to complete One UI 7 for its Galaxy devices, but will soon roll out the stable One UI 7 and launch an independent One UI beta program.

Last week, it was revealed that the company is already working on Android 16’s adaptation and testing the alleged One UI 8 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 smartphones.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 goes on Geekbench with Snapdragon 8 Elite, One UI 8 ahead of launch

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has now appeared on Geekbench, revealing that the company is carrying out pre-launch tests and preparations for its new device. The latest listing also solves the chipset mystery that has been in rumours for a long time.

According to the Geekbench 6.4 listing, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 US variant with model number SM-F966U achieved  3022 points on single-core and 9307 points on multi-core tests.

The US variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has appeared on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Also, the phone is expected to run on Android 16-based One UI 8 operating system

Being a flagship folding handset, all these things sound quite good. Nevertheless, the actual performance will only be known once the device is officially launched in the consumer market. Inputs reveal that the chipset is clocked at 3.53 GHz base frequency. 

Apart from this, the Korean tech giant can launch the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 around July this year. Also, an affordable flip model can also be introduced along with both the devices.
