One UI 7 lacks a much-needed security feature [Updated]

Samsung are great technology vendor in the smartphone industry, but when it comes to security and privacy, Samsung is two steps ahead. The Korean tech giant is recreating One UI 7 beta activity for the Galaxy S24 series and there are several new features to explore in this Android 15 adaption but it still lacks a basic, but much-needed security feature such as the App lock.
Updated: In a recent post on the One UI Beta community forum, the Samsung Beta Moderator responded and said that the project manager is currently evaluating whether the App lock feature alignment with the One UI 7 design concept and goals.
If the much-awaited security feature aligns with the One UI 7 direction, it could be included in the official release.

One UI 7 lacks a much-needed security feature – App lock
It is worth noting that the App lock feature is missing from the beginning in Samsung One UI software for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Beginning of the year, a report emerged that suggested that Samsung could bring an App lock feature to your Galaxy devices.
Ultimately, this information turned out to be false, because Samsung did not bring the App lock feature to One UI 7 as the company is encouraging customers to store all photos, videos, files, apps, and data that they want to keep private in a Secure Folder.
Plus, Secure Folder is protected by the Samsung Knox security platform, making sure that your information is kept safer from any malicious attacks.
With the One UI 7, Samsung Knox allows you to check the security status of multiple Samsung smart devices including home appliances, phones, tablets, and TVs.
Other security and privacy features in One UI 7 include a Data recovery method for Enhanced Data Protection, Passkeys support for Samsung Accounts, a Maximum Restrictions option in Auto Blocker, and improved Theft Protection to the system to bring optimum user experience.
In addition to the security features, it is loaded with a range of smart features and improves the user’s experience from personalization to animations as well as an app in One UI 7 has a newer design, having a slightly darker color with a gradient background.

These 11 Galaxy devices get Stable One UI 7 update

In Korea, Samsung has kicked off the Android 15-based One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Tab S10, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Z Fold5, and Galaxy Z Flip5. The update follows the One UI 7 deployment for Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy Z Fold5, as well as Galaxy Z Flip5 users in the same region, which began earlier.
These users are among the first to experience this update, which promises a smoother, more intuitive experience with a refined user interface, improved performance, enhanced privacy controls, and new customization options that align with Samsung’s vision for a seamless and intuitive user experience.
One UI 7 comes with a brand new look for your Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Tab S10, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Z Fold5, and Galaxy Z Flip5, including a sleeker user interface, smoother animations for maximum interactions, and an improved flow across the system.
Over the next few days and weeks, the Korean tech giant will open up the One UI 7 distribution to older flagships like the Galaxy S22 and S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip 4/3, and Z Fold 4/3.
To note, the company has started the US rollout for select devices, including the S24 series, Z Fold6, and Z Flip6 from April 10, but the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Tab S10, Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Z Fold5, and Galaxy Z Flip5 and others are still pending. The company’s phased approach prioritises flagships, with mid-range devices like the Galaxy A-series scheduled for June.
Your device should send a notification for a software upgrade. In the meantime, you can manually get the latest software from Samsung’s servers by navigating through Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Galaxy S22 users with One UI 7 to miss 5 major AI features

Samsung users can try out One UI 7 on the Galaxy S22 Plus virtually. The update’s rollout hasn’t yet begun, but the company is moving towards kicking off a public rollout next month. Samsung’s latest RTL refresh brings One UI 7 to the Galaxy S22 series, but users may be disappointed as they miss out on 5 major AI features with One UI 7.
One UI 7 is available on the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Notably, the latest flagships exclusively run the Stable One UI 7, last year’s flagships have Beta access to the software, and the Galaxy S22+ is eligible for RTL.
The RTL listing was recently updated as a video spread on Reddit and X that shows One UI 7 running on a Galaxy S22+ using Samsung’s Remote Test Lab.
The video reveals that the update for the S22 series will not include many of the cutting-edge AI features found in Samsung’s latest Galaxy S25 series.
- Audio Eraser
- Drawing Assist
- Now Brief
- Drawing Assist
- Writing Assist
This development suggests that One UI 7 is ready for numerous Galaxy devices. The stable rollout is expected to begin early next month for the Galaxy S22 series and is expected to expand quickly.
