Qualcomm to use TSMC for Galaxy S26 series ‘ Snapdragon 8 Elite 2
Qualcomm seems to already be gearing up for its next big flagship chip release, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, which will power the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Now, a recent leak reveals that the Galaxy S26 series’ Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is to be used by the TSMC.
According to the X post of Jukanloserve, Qualcomm is to use TSMC for the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which could potentially debut in the Galaxy S26 series. The Galaxy S25 series was expected to use the Exynos 2500. However, the Samsung foundry’s 3nm yield performance is not suitable for its latest flagship.
Therefore, Samsung will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC in all S25 models. Now, Samsung is expected to use the 3nm Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
DCS had also previously reported that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will use TSMC’s N3P (3nm) manufacturing process, which is more advanced than TSMC’s N3E (3nm) manufacturing process that the Snapdragon 8 Elite uses. The GPU of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 chip will be significantly more powerful than the current generation model.
The Galaxy S25 series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung is set to launch its Galaxy S25 series at the Unpacked 2025 event in the US tomorrow, January 22. Three main models are expected to be introduced at the event: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
This year, all Galaxy S25 series models will be powered by Snapgram 8 Elite in all countries. Notably, due to TSMC’s 3nm process, the chip costs 20% more than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was produced using a 4nm node.
Some reports have revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 can boost CPU performance by up to 20% compared to the 8 Elite. Also, this next-generation chip offers significant GPU upgrades to improve the gaming experience. Qualcomm may launch this new chipset in the second half of the year.
Although the leaks are interesting, we advise that it is always wise to take such early information with a grain of salt until Qualcomm makes an official announcement.
