As we are approaching the new year, the hype for the Samsung One UI 7 update started increasing alongside the Galaxy S25 series. Meanwhile, there’s good news for those using Samsung Galaxy S24 owners in India who haven’t joined the One UI 7 beta program. Samsung rolling out a December 2024 security update for Galaxy S24 users in India, based on the One UI 6.1.

Samsung’s December 2024 security update for Galaxy devices comes with 28 high levels and 6 critical levels of CVEs. At the same time, there is no moderate level of CVE mentioned on the list by Google, while, 1 CVEs are already fixed with previous updates and 1 isn’t applicable.

Apart from CVE items, the company additionally included 8 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items to improve its customers’ confidence in the security of Galaxy phones and tablets. 

Galaxy S24 Non-One UI 7 beta users get December 2024 security update in India

Samsung has already started releasing the December 2024 security update for the Galaxy S24 series in Europe, Korea, the US, and other Asian countries, and the company is now making it available for users in India.

Users of Samsung Galaxy S24 series models are getting the December 2024 security update with firmware build version S92XBXXS4AXKA. The installation package size of this update is around 452MB. The patch is rolling out gradually so it may take hours to days to reach all models.

Hence, install the new update as soon as it reaches your device. In case you have not received the firmware alert yet then visit Settings > System and Updates. Now tap on the Download and install and let the device search for the newest versions.

As always, the update doesn’t bring any major changes to the devices. You will get lots of new features and improvements next year with the Stable One UI 7 update on your Galaxy S24 phones.

Samsung Android 16 (One UI 8) update: Galaxy phones and tablet users are currently waiting for the One UI 7 update, which integrated the Android 15 update into millions of Galaxy devices. Meanwhile, Google is working on stable Android 16 in the backdrop.

Last month, it was revealed that Samsung is already working on Android 16’s adaptation and testing the alleged One UI 8 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 smartphones.

Google released the Android 16 beta 4

The first and second Android 16 Developer Preview build was released on November 20 and December 16 respectively and Beta 1, Beta 2, and Beta 3 was rolled out on January 23, February 13, and March 13, 2025 for Pixel devices including Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, as well as the Android Emulator, though it wasn’t mode available for any Samsung phones and tablets.

However, we can assume that future, stable versions of Android 16 will be introduced by the new version of Samsung One UI called One UI 8. Here is the list of eligible Galaxy devices that will receive the Android 16-based One UI 8 software update later next year.

Samsung Galaxy device compatibility for Android 16

Thanks to the Samsung software update guidelines, we already have a good idea of which Galaxy phones and tablets are eligible for the upcoming Android 16-based One UI 8 firmware with the new features and improvements.

Several devices are now eligible for at least three or four Android OS upgrades and recently launched Galaxy S and Z series devices are eligible for 7 years of software updates, while, mid-range are eligible for 6 years of software support.

Android 16 One UI 8 release

Google plans to launch the Android 16 public Beta update in January 2025, followed by the final version in Q2 of 2025. So, Galaxy devices may receive the One UI 8 software update in the second half of next year.

Android 15 One UI 7 release

Notable, One UI 7, based on Android 15, is a huge release, bringing a major UI design revamp compared to the previous version, so the One UI 8 could have smaller design changes. Now, the Korean tech giant plans to roll out the One UI 7 stable version launched alongside the Galaxy S25 series on January 22 at Galaxy Unpacked 2025.

Samsung Galaxy S23 may receive One UI 7 next week

So far, Samsung has delivered the One UI 7 firmware update to a few flagship Galaxy devices. However, network carriers in Canada now revealed the One UI 7/Android 15 update release date for the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphones.

Samsung One UI 7 is based on the Android 15 operating system, which brings notable changes to the usability and software appearance of the device. Samsung’s custom Android skin brings many new and useful features to your Galaxy as well as significant changes to the user interface.

According to Telus’ support page, the Android 15-based One UI 7 update will roll out to the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in Canada on or before April 22, 2025. As always, the new software will also feature a new security patch for improved device reliability.

Samsung Galaxy A55 gets Android 15-based One UI 7 Beta 2 update

Samsung has recently started releasing the stable version of Android 15-based One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S24 smartphone after testing 5 beta updates. Now, Samsung is rolling out the One UI 7 Beta 2 update for the Galaxy A55 smartphone.

Based on Android 15, the One UI 7 Beta 2 update for the Samsung Galaxy A55 smartphone comes with One UI build number A556EXXU7ZYD3 and is currently available only in Korea. Users will have to download a 336.14 GB package to install the update.

This update fixes various bugs and issues reported in the previous beta version. Apart from this, the changelog mentions that this update fixes the issue of poor visibility when checking the Now bar Google Sports.

Also, it fixes an issue that could not be added to MMS emoticons on a particular route. It resolves the top notification icon to be SIM shape when receiving eSIM push notifications

Furthermore, the update brings the April 2024 security update to improve system security and stability. If you are testing One UI 7 beta on your Galaxy A55 smartphone, install the update to enjoy error-free and enhanced functions.
