Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event 2025

Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is 3 days away. Samsung is all set to hold a Galaxy Unpacked event coming up fast on January 22, 2025, in San Jose, the same as the Galaxy S24 series.  The company isn’t being coy about at least a couple of things it’s talking about – in its rumors online clearly hint at the Galaxy S25 series and the One UI 7 announcement.

There will be more to the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event 2025 than just the Galaxy S25 series flagship phones and pre-announcement device reservation discounts. Samsung announced its regular Galaxy phones at its Galaxy Unpacked event last year, so that’s it, but we might also hear about other stuff, including the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim, Next-gen Bixby, Galaxy Ring 2 products, and, of course, the big One UI 7 announcement.

Galaxy Unpacked 2025

Galaxy S25 series

Ahead of Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event 2025 held, plenty about the Galaxy S25 series has already leaked. It seems the Galaxy S25 Ultra is getting an updated, more round-off corner design, significantly brighter screens, and a touch longer battery life, though using the same 5000mAh battery size as its predecessor.

The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ may be less changed from the previous model, but it’s expected to see some other key updates. All the models of the Galaxy S25 series are expected to be lighter, and powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

Thanks to on-device Galaxy AI, the Galaxy S25 series’ battery performance is constantly optimized. Besides a similar brightness boost to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Galaxy S25, and S25+ may get a much brighter screen like its Ultra sibling, along with a vapor chamber cooling system and 4000mAh with 25W wired charging, 4,900mAh, and 5000mAh battery with 45W super-fast wired charging.

One UI 7 rollout announcement

On December 05, Samsung announced the official One UI 7 release will start with upcoming Galaxy S series devices, featuring additional AI capabilities including enhanced on-device AI functions, starting from the first quarter of 2025.

In the meantime, we expect the stable One UI 7 update release schedule to be announced at the next Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event.

Samsung is expected not to be so late with the Android 16-based One UI 8 update next year. Google, on the other hand, is planning to release the stable Android 16 update in Q2 of 2025, three months ahead of its regular schedule.

Galaxy S25 Slim

Samsung shows an exciting glimpse of Samsung’s brand-new,  lighter, and thinner device: the Galaxy S25 Slim at this month’s Unpacked event. The Galaxy S25 Slim could be as thin as 6.60mm, in comparison, the iPhone 17 Air will reach a mere 6.25mm thickness.

First, of its kind for Samsung, the Galaxy S25 Slim is set to disrupt the market with its staunch specifications such as pro-grade features such as a 200MP main camera, a 3.5x Telephoto sensor, Snapdragon 8 Elite and a large battery of around 4700mAh. The phone is expected to be released in the second half of this year.

Next-generation Bixby

Last year, Samsung launched the next-generation Bixby with the W25 and W25 Flip in China, which is powered by a large language model (LLM). In the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 promo video, Samsung showcased an enhanced version of its virtual assistant, Bixby, which is powered by generative AI.

The Next-generation Bixby could be similar to new versions of Apple’s Siri, Google’s Gemini, and Open AI’s ChatGPT in understanding complex commands and remembering the context of conversations.

Galaxy Ring 2

Just like last year, Samsung may show off an exciting glimpse of its all-new, powerful, and accessible health and wellness device: the Galaxy Ring 2. Meanwhile, no supporting evidence has surfaced online yet.

Apart from that, the company may give journalists time with a prototype at the Mobile World Congress in February, revealing a bit about the colors and size of the ring and more.

Galaxy S26 60W fast charging

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to come with a powerful fast charging brick, and new information shows that the phone will also come with the fastest ever wire charger.

Last week, Ice Universe said that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will break the long-standing fast charging limit this time around. Ironically, the most delinquent Galaxy flagship only supports 45W charging.

According to the information coming from X, the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra flagship will feature 60W wire fast charging, and it’ll count as a big upgrade from last year’s 45W wired charger.

This new report shows that Samsung is focusing on another important segment – fast charging technology for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, followed by a slim structure.

According to the previous information, Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset which may be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, new dual 200MP camera of different sizes, a bigger and better display, One UI 85, bigger battery life, and more. As this flagship series is expected to make its debut by next year.

One UI 8 Galaxy M36

Samsung Galaxy users won’t have to wait long for the One UI 8 update. The company has just started testing Android 16-based One UI 8 on some of its budget models, which is the first step towards rolling out the software update. Now, Samsung has also begun internal testing of One UI 8 on two of its mid-range Galaxy smartphones, the Galaxy F34 and Galaxy M36.

X user Mohammad Khatri spotted internal One UI 8 builds for the Galaxy F34 and Galaxy M36. This development brings these two mid-range phones on par with newer models like the Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A55, Galaxy A35, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy A34.

For the Samsung Galaxy F34 and Galaxy M36, the One UI 8 builds carry version numbers E346BXXU7EYG7 and M366BXXU1BYG2, respectively. Note that it isn’t the latest build that the Korean tech giant will deliver as part of its official update rollout.

The One UI 8 beta program that started in May this year is still exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series. Don’t expect this beta program to reach non-flagship devices, as the firm has no plans for recent flagship phones either.

The firmware listing does not guarantee an early rollout of the update. It is the first step towards an OTA release on suitable models. You can expect a rollout roadmap from the company, which will be available in the Members app.
