On the 5th day of the month, Samsung started rolling out the December 2024 security updates to its phones and tablets. The Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S23 series in Europe received this December 2024 security update recently. Now, the update is rolling out to the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S23 series in the US. Plus, the Galaxy S23 series already received this update in Korea and India.

This firmware could be released in other regions soon.

Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S23 series gets December 2024 security update

The December 2024 update for the locked models of Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra comes bearing firmware version in G99xUSQSEGXK3 in the US. Users of unlocked Samsung Galaxy S23 models are getting this update with the One UI builds version given below.

  • Galaxy S23 Ultra: S918U1UES5CXJX
  • Galaxy S23+: S916U1UES5CXJX
  • Galaxy S23: S911U1UES5CXJX

Users need to download a software package worth 561.38 MB Megabytes to install the latest improvements on their handsets. If you have any of these devices in your hand then you can experience a reliable and bug-free experience.

The December 2024 security patch update addresses around 45 security issues from Google and Samsung. This change in your Galaxy device is made to eliminate unknown bugs present in the device system and settings. Plus, these patches make your smartphone data even more secure, keeping it safe from harmful privacy exploits and malicious threats.

Other than that, the firmware doesn’t count any major changes, But this is the most needed update for your smartphone and you should do it as soon as possible.

If you have received the notification of the latest security patch then follow on-screen instructions to get a bug-free experience.  If you don’t get a notification in a couple of days, you can check the update by navigating the Settings and selecting the Software update section. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has now appeared on Geekbench, revealing that the company is carrying out pre-launch tests and preparations for its new device. The latest listing also solves the chipset mystery that has been in rumours for a long time.

According to the Geekbench 6.4 listing, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 US variant with model number SM-F966U achieved  3022 points on single-core and 9307 points on multi-core tests.

The US variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has appeared on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Also, the phone is expected to run on Android 16-based One UI 8 operating system

Being a flagship folding handset, all these things sound quite good. Nevertheless, the actual performance will only be known once the device is officially launched in the consumer market. Inputs reveal that the chipset is clocked at 3.53 GHz base frequency. 

Apart from this, the Korean tech giant can launch the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 around July this year. Also, an affordable flip model can also be introduced along with both the devices.

Now, the company is bringing the first update for the Samsung Galaxy A56, which brining the April 2025 security patch in Thailand. The firmware is rolling out with the One UI A566BXXS2AYD3 version. It also has a package of 500MB. It is better to use a stable Wi-Fi connection for installation.

This initial update improves tablet performance by addressing security issues and enhancing system stability. The latest security patch ensures your device’s data and files remain secure, while system optimizations provide a smoother and more reliable experience.

Note that the update is being released in batches and may take a few days to cover all the regional units. Until then, you can go to System Settings and perform a manual installation if a new version is available.

Samsung Galaxy S23 may receive One UI 7 next week

So far, Samsung has delivered the One UI 7 firmware update to a few flagship Galaxy devices. However, network carriers in Canada now revealed the One UI 7/Android 15 update release date for the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphones.

Samsung One UI 7 is based on the Android 15 operating system, which brings notable changes to the usability and software appearance of the device. Samsung’s custom Android skin brings many new and useful features to your Galaxy as well as significant changes to the user interface.

According to Telus’ support page, the Android 15-based One UI 7 update will roll out to the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in Canada on or before April 22, 2025. As always, the new software will also feature a new security patch for improved device reliability.
