Samsung is rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S24 handset users which installs the January 2025 security patch. Meanwhile, Galaxy users are waiting for One UI 7, which could launch soon.

Although there is no information on the package size, we suggest keeping at least 500MB free in your internal storage section.

The Korean tech company has released the latest security patch with several fixes and security improvements. After all, the January 2025 patch resolves Google’s 5 critical, 24 high-level vulnerabilities hidden in the device system.

Notably, the changelog only shows the presence of the January 2025 security patch, which packs improvements for the device’s internal systems. Moreover, it also protects your essentials from privacy threats and exploits that may result in system crashes and data loss.

No additional changes are seen in the changelog. However, the January 2025 security patch is all that you should look for. Hence, we recommend you download the latest firmware that appears on your phone’s notification panel.

You can further install the respective One UI version by heading towards Settings > tap on Software Updates > Download and install. Thereafter, follow the on-screen prompts to check for the latest software.

There are some precautions you should take before the installation. For example, it is better to take a backup of this firmware beforehand. Also, keep enough storage space to avoid any interruption.

One UI 8 Galaxy Z Fold 5

Samsung has started testing Android 16-based One UI 8 on the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This big result shows that the Korean tech giant is considering the 2023 foldable, which could also be included in the Open Beta program this year.

After Galaxy S and A series devices, Samsung’s Android 16 optimization for Galaxy devices is in full swing, with foldable models not being added to the testing zone.

Right now, Samsung’s One UI 8 beta program is only available to users of the Galaxy S25 series. Older Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S22 series, are not part of the public beta. Instead, the company is testing One UI 8 internally on several older models.
